Abstract

The birth of a premature and / or aggravation of childhood pathologies, with consequent transfer to NICU / PICU, is an unexpected event accompanied by strong emotions and that can cause crises such as anxiety, fear, grief, disappointment, family conflicts. Objective: To understand in the literature how mothers react to the transfer of their child to the Intensive Care Unit. Method: This is an integrative literature review study with a qualitative approach, conducted from March 2018 to June 2019. Result: The transfer of the child to the ICU is an unexpected event, accompanied by strong emotions and that can cause a crisis to family members, especially to mothers. Conclusion: This study is expected to show us how much feelings emerge at this time and how much we can help and understand, providing a new look for the health professional.
