Abstract

On September 21, Tree Day is celebrated throughout the national territory. This date aims to make the population aware of the importance of this great natural wealth. Studies point to urban vegetation as an important inducer of environmental and life quality in cities and large urban centers due to its ecological, aesthetic and leisure functions. The present study describes an environmental education action with members of the civil society in the municipality of Itapira-SP, with the development of a practical action in the field with the planting of trees on the Ribeirão da Penha margin, favoring ciliary restoration. The results showed that the activities developed characterize plausible actions with regard to raising the awareness of young people, adults and educators on issues related to the preservation of this body of water, as well as the favoring of the fauna and flora that make up the biome of this municipality.
